Poor styling, performance, emissions, and abysmal safety ratings overshadow the lure of a low price sedan made in China, and may take eight to ten years to rectify. The US has less to fear at the present time, from a frontal assault on Detroit, but needs to sharpen its skills for more subtle maneuvers by China to increase its share of the automotive market.

The US, while concerned, has at least a decade before the results can be tallied. In the meantime, the US needs to protect its interests at home by sharpening its ability to produce comparable models at a lower price. The Chinese are not at our doorsteps yet, but they will be eventually.

China is learning to become a partner in crime, along with the US, in the destruction of the planet.
