Honda Accord's Hot Performance Mods

Are you obsessed with The Fast and the Furious? Do you find yourself revving your engine at stoplights? Do you have the need for speed? How about, do you drive a Honda Accord? I am assuming that question was not expected. Don't fear; if you drive a Honda Accord you can certainly modify your ride to your heart's content. With an array of after-market upgrades, you'll have your baby purring at top speeds in no time. If you want your Accord to play with the big boys, you can add a cold air intake, a racer pipe, high-flow exhaust manifold, even swap out the factory engine for a powerful H22A.

Adding a cold air intake to your Accord's engine is an affordable way to increase horsepower. The cold air intake system keeps the engine temperature down so that the internal-combustion engine can perform better. K and N offers cold air intakes from around $125 to $450. Of course you'll either have to install it yourself or get your local mechanic to do the job for you. K and N claims that its cold air intake can increase the Accord's performance by up to 26 horsepower. That's a pretty good boost for not a lot of dough.

Another addition for your Honda Accord could be test pipes. A test pipe is a straight pipe that goes onto your exhaust system. Not only does it provide the Accord with better air flow, it also can raise the horsepower. It will give the Accord's exhaust a deep, rough tone. A high-flow exhaust manifold is another option.

The Megan Racing site calls their high-flow exhaust manifolds "cat back systems." The exhaust has a straight design that improves air flow and the tone quality of the exhaust. They also say that the exhaust systems look excellent on show cars. However, you can only expect to gain up to around 15 horsepower from this installation.

If you've decided to take your Accord all the way and replace that pathetic factory engine with an H22A, you might as well pull out all the stops and go for the H22A racing engine. While it may set one back around $23,000, you can expect better performance than any other modified car on the road. Pocket Rockets Racing offers an H22A 2.5L racing engine. If you want horsepower, this is where you'll get it. The H22A racing engine can reach up to 375 horsepower or more! This engine is race ready.

So if you'd rather keep it on the inexpensive side, there are a multitude of options available to modify your Honda Accord. However, if you don't mind spending more as long as it performs, you'll find an incredible number of available upgrades that won't fall short of your expectations. Take your Honda Accord to the next level, and give it some extra oomph with these modifications.
