With concept vehicles introducing a wide-range of futuristic ideas this year, the Nissan Forum, set to make its world debut in January at the North American International Auto Show, goes one step farther and includes a microwave.
The vehicle, reminiscent of a minivan with room for seven, was displayed for journalists at the company's Farmington Hills, Michigan technical center on December 19.
With a stated goal of making family trips more comfortable and appealing, the Forum's front doors open wide with no B-pillars and the roof offers a "skyview" moonroof that opens.
The interior is divided into two zones with a microwave oven incorporated into the center console. Passenger cameras are in place in the front as well so that the driver can keep an eye on what's going on in the back without turning around and dangerously taking their attention from the road.
Trimmed in wood, leather, and aluminum, the Forum has Bluetooth connectivity, voice recognition, and a navigation system. The second row seats rotate 90 degrees both left and right. The concept on display is powered by a diesel engine and has a continuously variable transmission.
With minivan and SUV concepts incorporating more cabin amenities like DVD entertainment centers and even tables, the Forum concept is in line with design trends and shows every potential of being a hit with families if it does indeed go on the market.
