A drive through the streets of Beijing took place by a group of Chevrolet Camaro "Bumblebee" look-alikes recently. The unusual event was organized by fans of the movie "Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen" and aficionados of the Chevrolet Camaro. To celebrate the opening of the Transformers sequel: Rise of the Fallen, hard-core fans got busy transforming a surprising variety of daily driver vehicles to look like the star of the vehicle-turned-robot movie.
Even GM Chevrolet Division participated by supplying a spec-perfect 2010 Chevrolet Camaro Bumblebee to lead the procession. The fact that GM managed to persuade DreamWorks pictures to showcase the Camaro in the movie was itself a huge marketing achievement.
The event included 33 vehicles of a wide variety of makes and models. Among the participants which underwent the Bumblebee transformation for the event were a Ford Focus, a Volkswagen Golf, a Suzuki Swift, and a Citroen C4. The event was organized by Autohome.com.cn and a Chevrolet dealership in China, whose success in uniting the huge fan bases of the Transformers movies and the Chevrolet Camaro, exemplifies their popularity among fans of all different makes of automobile.
