The 2009 Acura RDX is a luxury compact SUV with modern styling and turbocharged power whose rivals include the Nissan Rogue. This four-door five-passenger SUV is available in two trim levels; however, only one engine model is available. All-wheel drive gives the crossover SUV superior handling.
The 2008 RDX is powered by a 2.3L Turbocharged DOHC i-VTEC I4 that generates 240 horsepower. With 260-lbs per foot of torque, the model surpasses most comparable models. The transmission in the RDX is a five-speed automatic equipped with Sequential SportShift paddle shifters. These paddle shifters allow the driver to control the model like a manual, but still have the convenience of an automatic. The 18-inch aluminum wheels are both tasteful and commanding and are accentuated by exterior chrome accents.
Inside, buyers can expect a great number of standard luxury features. A driver's 10-way power seat, heated front seats, 360-watt premium sound system, Bluetooth capabilities, and leather accents are all included. Also featured is an automatic day/night rearview mirror. This mirror has the ability to automatically dim when bright lights are present or can brighten if it is too dark. A complete power package is included with power windows, locks, and mirrors. Buyers can upgrade to the higher trim level with the technology package to add an advanced navigation unit, 410-watt audio system, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
With a base MSRP of $33,695, the 2009 Acura RDX is higher than comparable models. While numerous features are included on the base model, other luxury SUVs include most of the technology package upgrades in their standard models. For the buyer that is looking for both status and modern design, the RDX could be a great match. However, those that are in search of a great family crossover at an affordable price will need to check out other models on the market. Also, with an EPA estimated combined fuel rating of 19 MPG, the compact SUV is at the bottom of the pack. Other, more fuel efficient models would be a better pick for those concerned with environmental friendliness and superior fuel economy. However, a great number of safety features are included in the model, which could possibly outweigh the negatives for families with children.
