2007 Audi A6 Review

Sensible, but still stylish, the 2007 Audi A6 is available in either sedan or hatchback forms, both of which offer a lot of luxury in a sporty package.

Let's begin with the engine: the base model comes with a 255 horsepower, 3.1 liter V6 which is managed electronically, even down to the top speed being capped at 130 mph. Alternatively, there's also a 4.2 liter V8 option that offers 350 hp. On the A6, and the S6 sport model, all-wheel drive is the norm, though there is a front-wheel drive option available. The transmission is fitted with Audi's Tiptronic technology, which allows manual gear selection, and of course there's an advanced braking system that includes asbestos-free anti-lock brakes.

The Audi A6 and S6 are both equipped with an electronic stability program, but safety doesn't end there. Instead, it expands to include a rain sensor, headlights that can become active automatically, and standard side airbags for all passengers, as well as the usual front-seat dual-stage installments. As well, the back seat incorporates the LATCH child-seat system.

In addition to safety features, the A6 and S6 cars include both climate- and cruise-control features, 10 speakers, for serious sound options while driving, and multimedia options that extend to both MP3 playback and a multi-disc cd changer, which, sadly, is located in the glove compartment. There is motorized back adjustments for both seats in front, and the back seat splits and folds.

The base MSRP of the 2007 Audi A6 is $41,950, and the estimated fuel efficiency is 21 mpg in town and 29 mpg on open roads.
