2009 Audi A6 Review

The Audi lineup continues to be refreshed and the 2009 Audi A6 is the latest member to receive a makeover. It isn't getting the same treatment as the totally redesigned A4, but it has received an impressive engine addition and several smaller tweaks. Although the A6 sold only 12000 US units in 2007, it is still the global sales leader when compared to the BMW 5 Series (54000 units)and the E-Class from Mercedes-Benz (49000 units). There is quite a fluctuation in the pricing. You can spend anywhere from $40,000 to $60,000 for a new Audi A6.

That new engine addition is a supercharged 3.0L 300hp TSFI V6 that pushes 310 lb-ft of torque with the assistance of a Tiptronic 6-speed automatic transmission. Engine compression is set at a 10.5:1 ratio. This supercharger unit adds only 417 pounds to the vehicle's weight.

Fuel economy numbers and straight line speed test results have not been reported yet for the American version of the 2009 A6 by Audi. However, European versions that produce only 290 horses shoot from zero to sixty-two mph in just 5.0 seconds. Speed is electronically capped at 155 mph - like you really need to drive that fast anyway unless you just like spending time in jail. The Euro version also demonstrates a combined fuel efficiency rating of 24.8 mpg - not bad at all for a vehicle that can run like this.

Besides the new stock engine, the 2009 A6 will feature bigger front shocks and improved spring responsiveness. These changes will make the car handle better and more comfortable as well. The American version of the A6 will not be getting the Audi air suspension system. Cosmetic changes and upgrades to the interior are minor - leaving the new engine to be the most significant sell point. Daytime LED running lights and new headlamps are featured. The grille has been changed up and, in the rear, there is a new 2-piece taillight configuration that shows off nighttime optical accents. Additionally, there are new wheels and an instrument cluster that is of higher resolution for easier viewing. Audi rules the roads in terms of safety and the new A6 continues this lineage. A very popular safety feature is the blind-spot detection system that alerts you of proximal vehicles up to 50 yards away.

The 2009 Audi A6 is the best selling car in its class for a lot of good reasons. And remember, it competes with world leaders like BMW and Mercedes. Explore the new A6 today and take one for a spin. It is really an amazing progression in automotive excellence.
