2009 Audi S6 Review

Various design updates are included on the 2009 Audi A6. Featuring new lights, tweaked-out underpinnings and a brand new 3.0 liter 300hp 310 lb-ft V6 engine to name a few. The new 3.0T A6 is supercharged and comes stock with Audi Quatro AWD. In addition, the 2009 A6 lineup includes 2 other naturally aspirated engines: the base model 3.1L 255hp V6 with front wheel drive and the 4.2L 350hp V8 with Quatro AWD as well. For special shoppers, Audi is also offering a high-performing 5.2L 435hp V10.

Being larger than most of the cars in its class, the 2009 A6 by Audi is a full 8 inches longer than its cousin, the A4. The new A6 is elegant and stylish - and it tends to grow on you the more you spend time with it. It features classic Audi lines and the epitome of interior luxury. The materials used inside are soft to the touch and pleasing to the eyes.

Audi A6 taillights are wider for the 2009 models. Alloy wheels and LED running lights add flash and visual appeal. The running lights automatically illuminate when you unlock the vehicle after dark. The Prestige trim features keyless access - a remote that fits nicely in your pocket and provides push-button engine starting.

Authoritative throttling from these direct injection engines provide loads of low-end power. You can overtake delivery trucks with ease on the highways and as simplistically pass in-city traffic before running out of lane length. In fact, low-end performance for the Audi A6 is reported to be superior to even the Cadillac V6 STS, the Infiniti M35 and the Jaguar XF. Even with the considerable curb weight of 4123 pounds, the supercharged Audi A6 3.0T blasts you from zero to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds.

All three engines utilize electronic throttling and there are some reports that include issues with gas pedal lagging. All engines are also mated to the Audi 6-speed CVT automatic transmission. It is responsive and kicks down quickly and smoothly. Likewise, upshifts are relatively fluid and accurately timed. In manual mode, the transmission becomes a clutchless shifter. If you elect for the Prestige trim, you are treated to steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters.

Engine-dependent, the 2009 A6 displays base pricing between $45,100 for the A6 3.2 and $75,900 for the 5.2L V10 version. Fuel efficiency is rated at 18/27 for the V6 models, 16/23 for the V8 and 14/19 for the V10. Quick shock absorber response standards make the Audi A6 a smooth rider - a true pleasure to cruise in. Wind noise does present a bit of an issue on long trips and that really should not be a factor given the price range.

Overall, the 2009 Audi A6 is a winner. It presents drivers and passengers with a nice mix of luxury, elegance and understated flashiness. Definitely worth closer inspection, the new Audi A6 is sure to be a great seller.
