2011 BMW M3 Review
The 2011 BMW M3 is the result of more than 20 years of researching, testing and honing an already high performance car that saw its origins on a race track. In competition with the likes of the Cadillac CTS-V, the M3 retails at prices between $55,400 and $67,050. BMW financing is offered with attractive incentives currently. The M3 continues living up to and often exceeding the standards expected from its fine motorsports heritage. The M3 features a powerful and fast 4.0L V8 engine that delivers 414 horsepower at a high-revving 8300 RPM and 295 lb-ft of torque at 3900. Purchasers may choose between two transmissions: a 6-speed manual and a double-clutch 7-speed. Each of the three available trims are rear wheel driven.
Top-performance antilock brakes, a variable locking differential, M Sport suspension and electronic stability control also join forces to produce the excellent ride quality offered by the 2011 M3 BMW. New for this year, stylish newly-designed taillights have been added to both the coupe and the convertible trims, and the very popular Competition Package is now available. To enhance the driving experience further, order optional features including:
- Electronic damping control;
- Voice activated navigation;
- Front and rear heated seats;
- 19 inch wheels of forged alloy;
- Leather, wood and aluminum options for dash trims;
- BMW Assist;
- Parking Distance Control;
- USB ports;
- Satellite radio;
- And a lot more;
19.2 feet of turning radius is required by the 2011 M3 from BMW. All trims are fitted with a 16.6-gallon fuel tank which, when filled, will allow travel up to more than 320 miles on the highways. The EPA estimates that the new M3 will deliver 14/20 mpg urban/rural. Exterior dimensions for the BMW M3 are 181.8, 71.0 and 55.8 inches in length, width and height respectively. Its wheelbase measures 108.7 inches and its curb weight is reported at 3704 pounds. A comprehensive array of standard safety features is offered and includes:
- 4-wheel antilock braking that automatically senses when any individual wheel has stopped rotating in times of extreme braking. Braking pressure is modulated and the stilled wheel is permitted to rotate. The result is enhanced abilities to maintain control, especially while turning and braking simultaneously.
- Electronic stability control senses when the M3 has exceeded its handling limits. Engine power is reduced and/or selected brakes are applied.
- Front, side, side curtain and overhead airbags help to keep all occupants safe in the event of a collision or rollover.
- Seat belt pretensioners automatically tighten and lock seat belts to ensure optimal occupant positioning in the event of a collision.
- Anti whiplash head restraints wrap around passengers' heads and reduce the probability of sustaining a whiplash injury in the event of an accident.
- A high tech security system including engine disabling, smart key technology and key-fob panic alarm increases peace of mind during any travels.
The NHTSA has not yet reported its crash test safety ratings for the 2011 BMW M3.
