2010 Cadillac Escalade Review
Most automotive experts agree that the 2010 Cadillac Escalade is the top-ranking large luxury SUV in the world. With MSRPs ranging between $59,638 and $83,959, the new Escalade is ready to thrill you. It bursts onto the 2010 scene with styling that demands attention. It offers all occupants loads of luxury features inside its impressive cabin. And especially for its considerable size, the Escalade solidly delivers capable performance standards.
The 2010 Escalade by Cadillac is perfect for purchasers that have a need to haul large crews, pull weighted loads of up to 8300 pounds - or both. The market for large luxury SUVs is highly competitive today - and that's great news for the shrinking consumer group that demands them. If you are one of those who have a sincere need for oversized, powerful luxury, then you are positioned with optimal bargaining power. The 8-passenger Escalade comes in four trim levels: Escalade, the Escalade ESV with extended wheelbase, the Escalade EXT with a stunted truck bed and the very popular Escalade Hybrid.
The Cadillac Escalade for 2010 has a drinking problem. Consistently thirsty, its 6.2L 400hp V8 engine delivers just 10/16 mpg urban/rural. It's not because of a lack of effort though; Cadillac engineers have developed a system of cylinder deactivation. When not needed, four of its eight cylinders will shut down in order to save fuel. The hybrid Escalade does better, but remains incapable of miserly efficiency. And, Escalade Hybrid purchasers need to be ready to pay at least $10,000 more than their less-green brand supporters.
Other changes for the new Escalade from Cadillac include standard USB ports and frontal side airbags. And unless those additions are important to you particularly, you should consider the 2009 Escalade for purchase. It's important to remember that dealers want to rid themselves of their 2009 stock. You could save a lot of money. Additionally, for the last several months, Cadillac has offered 5-year, 0% financing for 2009 models. Of course, competition including the Lincoln Navigator and the Toyota Land Crusier are likewise available with attractive financing options.
Although perhaps not as nimble as some of its competitors, the 2010 Cadillac Escalade is still a quite capable offroad performer. Its posh cabin space is one of the nicest in the class. However, like most other large SUVs (excluding the Lincoln Navigator with a lower base price), it gets a lot of slack about it's rather unaccommodating third row of seating. Still, overall it's one of the best full sized luxury SUVs available - and is definitely worth your further consideration.
