Read about the 2008 Cadillac DTS Platinum and Performance models. The DTS has either a 275hp or 292hp V8 engine with 4-speed automatic transmission.
General Motors introduced the Cadillac DTS as a replacement for the DeVille in the 2006 model year. DeVille was once a leading name in the full-size luxury segment. However, with their market share slipping, General Motors felt the urge to redefine its offerings in that particular segment. That's why GM replaced the DeVille with the DTS.
People got a preview of the new DTS in person and during a nationwide television broadcast. Those who had watched the January 20, 2005 parade for the second inauguration of George W. Bush were the lucky few to get a sneak peak of the specially designed presidential DTS limousine before everyone else. However, performance specifications of the DTS weren't available as authorities wanted to keep everything about the car extremely confidential.
But, car lovers didn't have to wait too long for a ringside view of the Cadillac DTS. GM launched the highly awaited DTS with much fanfare at the Chicago Auto Show on February 9 of that year.
DTS is carrying on its shoulders the rich legacy of its predecessor the DeVille. So stakes are really high for the DTS when it comes to living up to the expectation of die-hard Cadillac fans. If you go through the features and specifications of the DTS, you will soon discover that there's not much difference between the predecessor and successor. GM intended to reposition its Cadillac brand in the full-size luxury segment with the launch of DTS.
This latest sedan from the stable of General Motors comes with 32V Northstar V8 engine capable of delivering 275 horsepower. The standard features associated with the Cadillac DTS are Xenon high power headlamps, leather seating, eight airbags, etc. You can also opt for chrome wheels, heated/cooled seats, navigation system etc. CTS is expected to face fierce competition from Lincoln Town Car and Chrysler 300. It remains to be seen how CTS will cope with the rivalry.
