Cadillac Escalade ESV

Almost everything about the luxurious Cadillac Escalade ESV has always been massive-its engine, is physical dimensions and, unfortunately, its price tag. In 2003, the ESV debuted as an additional trim for the Escalade family of full-size SUVs that took the lineup to another level with its extended wheelbase, potent V8 engine and the maximum amount of both cargo and passenger space in its class. The ESV was the recipient of few changes throughout the 2006 model year, and power was continually provided by a strong, 345 horsepower 6.0 liter V8 engine. In typical Cadillac fashion, the cabin was filled with a grand assortment of standard convenience, luxury and safety features.

In 2007, the Cadillac Escalade ESV was completely redesigned. The engine was replaced with a 6.2 liter V8, capable of producing an admirable 403 horsepower. Although the physical dimensions remained close to the same, support was now provided by a new fully boxed frame. The chic interior was made even more lavish, with soft touch features and high quality materials throughout the cabin and practically designed conveniences such as the power operated fold and flip second row seats strategically scattered throughout. The ESV can transport a maximum of up to 137 cubic feet of cargo inside, while a more than sufficient 46 cubic feet is available when both the 2nd and 3rd row seats are in their upright positions.

There is only one, fully loaded ESV trim. Standard features include 18 inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights, leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, heated 2nd row seats, driver seat memory control, tri-zone automatic climate control, a 10 speaker surround-sound Bose audio system with satellite radio and a CD/DVD changer, a power rear lift gate, power-folding mirrors and a remote engine start . Power retractable running boards are available as an option when purchased with the V8 Ultra Luxury Collection Package which adds 22 inch wheels, adaptive headlights, a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled front seats, a navigation system with a rearview camera, a rear seat DVD entertainment system, a sunroof and power folding 2nd row seat.

The Escalade ESV is available with either rear wheel drive or all wheel drive. All models are powered by a 6.2-liter V8 that boasts 403 horsepower and is capable of towing up to 7800 pounds. The standard 6 speed automatic transmission features both a manual and a tow/haul mode. Gas mileage is average for this gas guzzling class of vehicles, with the ESV getting 12 mpg in the city and 18 mpg on the highway.

The 2008 Cadillac Escalade ESV provides a smooth and composed ride and offers superior engineering and handling capabilities. Although the popularity of large, luxury SUV's is waning in lieu of more fuel efficient vehicles, the ESV is representative of overall excellence in its class, making it a wise choice for anyone who needs it capabilities and will appreciate its elegance.
