2007 Chevrolet Avalanche Review

The 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche is a half-ton, four-door crew cab truck available in three models the LS, LT, and LTZ with MSRPs of $33,235; $33,940; and $40,670 respectively. In its design, the Avalanche blends the best functions of a long-body pickup with an SUV. Much of this functionality is attributable to a panel between the cabin and bed called the Midgate. When this panel is open, the length of the bed can be extended from 5'3" to 8'2". With the midgate closed, however, and the rear seat in an upright position, the Avalance can carry as many as six passengers. As an added feature, the rear window of the vehicle can be removed.

The truck's standard engine is a 5.3 liter V-8. The 320 horsepower version is available for the two-wheel drive model and a 310 hp for the four-wheel drive. (There's also an option for a 355 hp, 6 liter V8.) Standard fuel tank capacity is 31-gallons. The Avalanche can haul loads of as much as 8,000 pounds and payloads of around 1,300 pounds.

On the 2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LS the front benches are covered in cloth. Air conditioning is controlled over two zones and audio is produced by a combo unit. There are two power outlets in the cabin. The LT 2WD changes to buckets with a console in the center and audio controls for back passengers. Halgoen lamps for foggy conditions are also standard. The LTZ 2WD and 4WD include all of the amenities that are optional on other models and pick up premiums on suspension and road leveling.
