Chevy's littlest and most inexpensive car is the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo. It combines a very attractive interior, especially on the top-shelf trim, the LT. Adequate power is generated from a 1.6L 103hp 4-banger and your choice between either a 4-speed auto or the stock 5-speed manual transmission. There are two styles to choose from: a 4-door sedan and a 5-door hatchback. The hatchback version is called the Aveo5.
The 2009 Aveo by Chevrolet has been created to compete with the Honda Fit, Nissan Versa, Hyundai Accent and the Toyota Yaris. It is designed for comfortable day-to-day transportation more so than for any element of sportiness. This is a car that serves people who have substantial daily commutes very well. It also fairs quite impressively on the fuel economy scales delivering 24/34 mpg city/highway - not bad for any vehicle today. And with MSRPs ranging between $11,965 and $15,365, the Aveo is drawing a lot of attention.
Steering wheel-based audio and climate controls are another convenient plus for the Aveo by Chevy. Other standard features on the base trim include cloth seats, power/tilt steering, a driver's seat that is multi-adjustable and has lumbar support, rear window washer and wiper, and 14-inch alloy wheels. Rising up through the trim levels, one is offered many other features, both standard and optional. AC, keyless entry, fog lights, cruise control rear spoilers, bigger wheels, sunroofs and security systems are but a few.
2-stage front and seat-mounted side airbags compliment the seat belt pretensioners and tire pressure monitor system as standard safety features on the 2009 Aveo. On the LS and LT trims, you can opt for ABS braking for an additional $400. The NHTSA has awarded the Aveo with 5-star frontal crash test ratings - always a strong sell point. Chevy wants you to be safe always. The basic warranty covers the vehicle for 36 months or 36,000 miles - whichever comes first.
In 2008, the Aveo was redesigned to incorporate a more aerodynamic scheme that lessens noise and vibrations. The ride is smooth and, although the Aveo is really small, you can spend a lot of time in it, even on long trips, and get out without feeling like you have been stuffed in a shoe box. Assembled in Bupyong, South Korea, the 2009 Chevrolet Aveo provides excellent value for an efficient, stylish and comfortable ride.
