2010 Chevrolet Aveo5 Review

2010 Chevrolet Aveo5 Review

You can choose between a four speed automatic and a five speed manual transmission for your 2010 Chevrolet Aveo5 hatchback. It is Chevrolet's least expensive automobile and was majorly redesigned in 2007 to be able to more effectively compete with other popular subcompacts including the Toyota Yaris, the Hyundai Accent, the Honda Fit and the Nissan Versa. The Aveo5 is designed for practicality and fuel efficiency. It is meant to take you about your day-to-day transportation routes with more than adequate comfort, excellent dependability and the peace of mind to know that you can make it through the stop-and-go nature of American highways and cities.

Fuel efficiency ratings for the 2010 Aveo5 hatchback from Chevrolet are measured at 24/34 mpg city/highway - slightly more impressive than the Accent and the Versa, yet slightly less impressive than the Yaris and the Fit. However, when you consider MSRPs that began in the $11,000 range, the Aveo5 blows its competition away.

The 2010 Aveo5 features a 1.6L 108hp 105 ft-lb SAE I4 engine with a dual overhead cam system. Variable valve timing is complemented by a 79 mm bore and 81.5 mm stroke. The compression ratio is 10.8:1. Its multipoint fuel injection system works in conjunction with this engine to provide you plenty of ready pep. Additionally, power is gained from an 81 kW electric motor. An 11 gallon fuel tank will allow you to travel nearly 300 miles between fill ups.

The Aveo5 from Chevrolet for 2010 has been designed more for comfort than for sporty driving appeal. Its independent frontal suspension system features a stabilizer bar and coil springs. In the rear, a torsion beam semi-independent suspension system also features coil springs. Driving quality is reported to be surprisingly adequate. The Aveo5 presents passengers with enough space on the interior to ride in comfort even on long journeys. The overall vehicular dimensions are 169.7 x 67.3 x 59.3 inches in length, width and height respectively. The turning radius has been measured at 16.5 feet. Curb weight is a low 2568 pounds.

Although this isn't quite a full sized passenger van, the Chevy Aveo5 does present you with 12.4 cubic feet of cargo space - even when all seats are in place. Convenient bin-like door pockets are present to handle maps, CDs and other items that you may be traveling with. Chevrolet has considered your safety as well by presenting you with front driver airbags that feature multi-stage deployment. There's also a frontal air bag for the passenger and a system in place that senses front passenger occupants. Additionally, side curtain airbags, child safety locks and a tire pressure monitoring system are included.

Bucket style seats are able to be adjusted for height and also feature lumbar support. 3-point seat belts with pretensioning devices are also included as standard features. And of course, Chevy provides you with a voice activated GPS system to assist you with your navigational endeavors. The standard warranty for the Chevrolet Aveo5 hatchback covers you comprehensively for three years or 36,000 miles. Your drivetrain warranty is good for five years or 100,000 miles. Roadside assistance coverage takes care of you in emergency situations for five years or 100,000 miles as well. And you have a rust protection warranty in effect for six years or 100,000 miles.

It's hard to beat the overall value that you will find in the 2010 Chevrolet Aveo5. It's comfortable. It's peppy. It's good-looking and dependable. And perhaps best of all, it is the least expensive vehicle in the subcompact segment.
