Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD 4WD

The Chevrolet truck was known as the Chevrolet C/K from 1962 until 1998. "C" was a designation for 2WD and "K" denoted 4WD. In 1975, the Silverado was first introduced as a trim package for the Chevy C/K. Sales soared and, in time, Silverado became the new standard for Chevy trucks along with its direct counterpart, the GMC Sierra. The Sierra is looked upon as a higher-level Silverado offering more luxurious options on the same basic truck.

In 1982, the Silverado (still a Chevy C/K trim package) began offering auto-locking hubs on the 4WD trims and that was taken to very well from truck lovers everywhere. And in 1984, the Silverado underwent its first major facelift in 15 years. The front end was redesigned giving the truck an entirely new look and feel. The design was more fluid and contemporary.

It was in 2001that General Motors launched its Heavy Duty models, including the 2500 HD 4WD. And in 2003, the Silverado SS was first manufactured. In 2004, the famous Vortec High Output (VHO) V10 engine was created and utilized. There's also a vastly popular choice of a Turbo Diesel V8 available now. And in 2005, the first-ever Silverado Hybrid was launched. After 1999, all Chevrolet trucks took the Silverado name and the C/K designations were dropped.

The Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD 4WD is a 3/4 ton full-sized pickup truck that is designed and manufactured for tough jobs and regular mistreatment. The Silverado has risen to the #2 spot on the list of trucks most sold anywhere. There were almost 240,000 sold in 2008 along with another 83,000 Sierras.

Comparatively, the #1-seated seller, the F-Series Ford Pickups sold 284,000+ units. Chevy Silverado 2500 HD 4WD trucks are built in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Flint, Michigan and Pontiac, Michigan.

After 2004, the 2500 model of Silverado has only been offered in the HD classification along with the 3500. Chevy lovers worldwide continue to show great loyalty, and as usual, the Ford/Chevy debates constantly ensue. The success of the Silverado as a trim proved to be all that General Motors needed to reclassify all Chevy trucks as such. Of course, GM and Chevrolet have a very bright future and will only continue to grow in popularity.

There are no current major changes for the Chevrolet 2500 HD 4WD planned. There are always ongoing minor changes to grille designs and the like, but nothing out of the ordinary. The Chevrolet 2500 is offered in three different cab styles (regular, crew and extended) and with an impressive array of optional features and color schemes. It's difficult not to find at least a few variations that you would have no problem falling in love with right now.

Chevy drivers are proud drivers and they will continue to be so well into the future. Chevy Silverados continue to dominate other full-sized pickup trucks in the areas that matter most to construction workers and family men alike: towing, hauling and dependability. The Chevy Silverado 2500 HD 4WD consistently proves itself to be one of the finest fleet trucks on the planet.
