The 2009 Chrysler 300 comes out with three trim options to answer its competitors, which include the Ford Taurus and the Chevy Impala. The LX is the base model, followed by the Touring and Limited options. All three models are available in rear wheel drive, with only the Touring and Limited offering all wheel drive. There have not been any major changes to this year's model, with the exception of some added chrome in the interior and an active transfer case and front axle disconnect.
The 2009 300 is powered by one of two V6 engines. The first is the 178 horsepower 2.7 liter, and the other is a 250 horsepower 3.5 liter. Both are available in either a four or five speed automatic transmission. The front axle disconnect is designed to disengage the front wheels when all wheel drive is not necessary. This was done in an effort to improve fuel mileage, which gives you an expected 17/25 miles per gallon in the new 300.
who is familiar with previous models will recognize the distinctive appearance of the Chrysler 300. It boasts a very impressive look going down the road. As far as size, it's fairly close to that of its closest competitors. The only difference being that it is slightly shorter. Depending on which trim level you select, three different wheel sizes are available, including 17", 18", or 20".
The Chrysler 300 seems to handle very well for the most part, especially the rear wheel drive models. The only exception seems to be the occasionally unresponsive steering. It's also quite a handful on slippery roads without the optional stability system.
The 2009 300 offers an inviting and spacious interior, with plenty of room for five passengers. Available options include plenty of high tech gadgets that one would expect to find in a car of this class. The rear seating area is especially impressive, depending on which trim option you are looking at. Some options for the rear include writing tables, reading lights, vanity mirrors, footrests, and 12V power plugs. Entertainment systems and premium sound systems from Boston Acoustics are also available. With the newly added chrome accents, this interior is as stylish as it is functional. The safety features found on this car are very comparable with many new cars today. The only thing not found on some other new vehicles is the smart beam technology. This allows the high beams to dim automatically when they sense oncoming traffic.
With a starting price tag of around $27,000, the 2009 Chrysler 300 provides you with all of the luxury you could ask for. Aside from that, it is also practical enough to function as a reliable family sedan.
