Chrysler Sebring

The Chrysler Sebring has had a varied history since 1995. Though the maker says that the three different types of Sebrings are somewhat unrelated, the general public has associated the coupe, convertible, and sedan with each other since their inceptions. First, the coupe was released in 1995 and was considered the maker's luxury model. Then, in 1996 the convertible was introduced and stuck around to become the bestselling convertible in the world from 2001 until 2005. 2001 brought about the introduction of the Sebring sedan, and this is the model version that most distinguishes itself from the earlier editions with four doors and a more refined exterior. The Chrysler Sebring replaced the LeBaron in the maker's lineup.

The Sebring coupe had a ten-year run from 1995 until 2005. It featured engine styles through the years ranging from a 2.0L I4 to a 3.0L Mitsubishi V6. With seating for up to five passengers, the Sebring coupe was both roomy and luxurious. However, poor sales and increased interest in other Sebring models caused Chrysler to discontinue the coupe in 2005.

The Sebring convertible began as a mid-size two-door model with a soft top. Featuring four different engine levels since its origination, the most recent and most powerful is the 3.5L EGJ V6. Though the convertible was widely popular in the early 2000s, most recently the model has gained widespread acclaim for its fully-retractable hardtop, posh exterior, and Limited trim level. Chrysler plans to carryover the 2008 model year into the next, with not many changes scheduled for the near future.

The youngest of the trio is the Sebring sedan. This model began in 2001 and is the largest of the three. Originally released with a 2.4L I4 and an available upgrade to a 2.7L V6, the Sebring sedan was not considered as trendy as its counterparts. However, with a total of seven trim levels available from 2001 until 2006, the model was easily customizable, making it a common choice for small families. In 2007 the model was given a facelift that provided the Sebring with a more elegant, stylish face and interior. Also, several more powerful engine levels were introduced as well, including a 3.5L EGJ V6. The 2008 model year brought a technologically-advanced MyGIG entertainment system that appeals to both younger buyers and families with children.

The Chrysler Sebring, in all its variations, has been used in numerous television shows and feature films. Blockbuster hits like Mystic River, Intolerable Cruelty, The Dukes of Hazzard, Insomnia, and Stranger Than Fiction all gave the model a part. Shows like The X Files, The Sopranos, Ghost Whisperer, and The Wire have all highlighted the Sebring as well.
