The 2008 Dodge Viper: an 8.4L 600hp V10 engine on wheels (nice wheels) delivering a jaw-dropping 560 lb-ft of torque! There's not a whole lot more to the new Viper. When you buy a Viper, you buy it for power, speed and to watch everyone looking at you as you drive by them with that special little smirk (you know the one). The redesigned heads and block on this monster engine delivers 90 more hp than its predecessor did. Partial credit for the increased power also belongs to new exhaust and intake systems and Variable Valve Timing with Dodge's CamInCam technology. It's actually quite impressive from an engineering perspective.
The 2008 Viper is also sporting a newly designed hood that has been maximized for air intake and extraction. This cools the engine better and looks H-O-T! The previous year's Viper came stock with run-flats while this newer snake comes with Michelin Pilot Sort PS2 tires. Featherweight aluminum control arms accentuate the suspension as do coil-over shock absorbers all wrapped together tight. The 600 horsepower output outdoes every other car in its class (exotic sports cars). They average only 542.63 hp which is still about twice what the average human could ever really use!
The interior instrument panel is very driver-oriented and features that speed racer-like red push button starter. The MSRP for this new Dodge Viper is $84,880 for the coupe trim and $85,630 for the convertible trim. Notably, the average MSRP for other cars in this class is $102,291. With a fuel capacity of 16 gallons and a maximum trip range of 352 miles, this Dodge isn't meant to be easy on the gasoline. It does however jump from a 12 mpg city consumption rate up to a relatively impressive 22 mpg on the highways. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic overdrive and is standard on both trims.
Air conditioning, power windows, power locks and leather seats are all standard on both trims as well. There are 2 doors on each trim - one for each passenger that will fit inside. This ride is not meant for mass transport or cargo hauling. The 2008 Viper is meant to cruise in and look hot doing it. For safety, you are given both driver-side and passenger-side airbags and ABS brakes. Traction control and stability control are not even optional. Navigational systems are optional and that's really about your only other option. No sunroofs, power seats or CD changers are available either.
It really doesn't matter that you can't adjust the seat by power; you get stock adjustable foot pedals and a fully adjustable steering column. So, strap yourself in, adjust to fit and prepare for one of the most exciting rides out there. Besides its unmistakable style and lion-like roaring engine, the 2008 Dodge Viper offers unequaled power that always rides low and remains ready to strike!
