2007 Ford Escape Review

The 2007 Ford Escape is available in seven models: the XLS Manual ($19,985), XLS ($20,785), XLT ($22,945), XLT Sport ($24,575), Limited ($25,315), Hybrid FWD ($26,320), and Hybrid 4WD ($27,925.)

Engine options include a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic 2.3 liter producing 152 horsepower and a four-speed automatic three-liter V6 generating 193 horsepower. Estimated city/highway mileage is 23/36 and 20/24 respectively. The hybrids are equipped with a 2.3 liter 4V electric motor delivering 133 horsepower. Estimated gas mileage city/highway is 36/31 for the FWD and 32/29 for the 4WD.

The Escapes seat five with measurable volume for cargo at 66.3 cubic feet on the gasoline versions and 65.5 on the hybrid (posterior to the first row with the second removed.) Comprehensive occupant safety systems include double-stage airbags covering the driver and front seat passenger with side door beams reinforced against intrusion. Child seats are held in place by the LATCH anchoring system and all-wheel brakes with technology against locking are standard on all models including the hybrids.

The 2007 Ford Escape includes a combo audio unit playing across four speakers with a changer in the dash capable of handling six discs. This unit can be exchanged for a 320-watt Audiophile system that includes seven overall speakers as well as satellite radio and the capability for mp3 playback.
