The 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid is a compact SUV with four doors using a 2.3-liter Atkinson-Cycle 4-cylinder combined with an electric motor generating 70 kilowatts. Put those two together and you get around 155 horsepower. (Both FWD and 4WD are available.) The Escape Hybrid seats five and has plenty of room for cargo.
There are four packages from which consumers may select, including three additional exterior colors for 2007. Drivers who opt for the gauge package will benefit from an indicator designed to register economy by showing a "green zone" illustrating that the vehicle is drawing its power from the battery. A second gauge indicates the current levels for charge and assist.
Depending on the level of trim selected, expect to pay anywhere from $25,655 to $27,260. You'll get between 32 and 36 mpg in town and 29 to 31 out on the road. This is the third incarnation of the vehicle, but reviewers agree that the 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid has a slight edge over previous models in appearance, finish, and performance. Perhaps it's a case of practice makes perfect, but no driver will feel they are compromising by opting for the more efficient and environmentally friendly Escape Hybrid.
