For 2008 Ford Mustang is offered in eight trim packages spanning the V6 Deluxe Coupe to the GT Premium Convertible. Manufacturer's suggested retail price ranges from $19,250 to $31,845.
Technically the Mustang is a two-door coupe/convertible with room for four, but in truth this one is a legend of the American road. In the V6 Deluxe Coupe you're looking at a 4-liter V6 generating 210 horsepower. Go to the top of the line to the GT Premium Convertible and you get a 4.6-liter V8 putting out 300 horsepower. (Both come standard with a five-speed manual, automatic optional.)
New features in the line for 2008 include HID (High Intensity Discharge) front lamps, 18-inch wheels (on the V6 coupe) and an ambient lighting system for the interior. Three new body colors are being offered and side air bags are now standard.
Buyers in 2008 can opt for the Pony Package on V6 models featuring GT-handling with a bigger stabilizer bar in the front, a rear stabilizer, and P235/55ZR17 tires on wheels of cast aluminum with machined rims in a bright finish (with tri-bar Pony center caps).
The Mustang GT California Special package is available for premium models and includes side scoops, 18-inch wheels, bright rolled exhaust tips, unique tape stripes, and seats trimmed in black leather with contrasting inserts in Dove or Parchment leather. Expect alarger air intake and a chin spoiler as well as custom rear and front fascias.
Don't look for any other pony car on the American road. The Mustang stands alone and the 2008 Ford Mustang holds up to the model's venerable and "hot" history. Almost 50 percent of all sports cars sold in the U.S are Mustangs and it's the best-selling convertible in the country. With that trademark long hood and shark-like nose, when you drive a Mustang, you're driving an icon.
