The 2009 Ford Fusion is a midsize sedan with great looks, value, handling and a comfortable ride. The Fusion comes with the option of a four-cylinder 2.3-liter 160 horsepower engine with manual or automatic transmission as well as a 221 horsepower 3.0-liter V6 with automatic.
While the smaller engine does offer a fuel efficiency rating, beating the Subaru Legacy with 22 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the highway, its lack of power leaves drivers wanting. 160 hp is enough to get you moving, but you have to allow extra room for passing as there is a significant lag from the time you press the gas pedal and the time you start to pull away. The V6, however doesn't have this problem.
The interior of the 2009, though, really outshines the rest of the car. Ford is bringing its "A" game and really competing with luxury vehicles that offer state of the art technology combined with lush surroundings. The interior of the car is comfortable and all controls are user friendly.
The front seats are supportive enough for long drives, yet soft enough for just the right amount of comfort no matter where you need to go. And since this is a midsize sedan, storage space is abundant with a dashboard storage compartment, center console, storage pockets on the backs of the seats and door pockets.
If it is protection you're looking for, the 2009 Fusion rated a perfect 5 stars in front and side crashes and 4 stars for rear crashes. This places the Ford in the highest safety categories available. It also comes standard with anti-lock disc brakes, front and side airbags, and traction control. However, stability control is an optional feature in the 2009 even though the best family sedans on the market today make that a standard feature.
The Sync Package that is standard on all 2009 Fusions is a great perk to owning this vehicle. It allows you to sync your Bluetooth capable phone and iPod to the car's stereo system, allowing for voice control if you so desire. Overall, the 2009 Ford Fusion offers luxury comfort in a midsize package with an MSRP of $18,135.
