2009 Ford Mustang Review

With forty-five years on the road, the 2009 Ford Mustang is truly an American classic, and this model year's edition shouldn't disappoint longtime fans; nevertheless, the lack of stability control and poor gas mileage might turn away potential buyers. While the exterior is virtually untouched from the previous model year, inside the 2009 Ford Mustang has received a satellite radio system and an available DVD navigation program. Also, two different Shaker audio systems are available that provide clear, quality sound in either 500 or 1000 watt models. Bavaria, the home of the BMW 6 Series, is about the only other place you will find a more road-worthy driving machine

While the exterior pays homage to the original pony car, under the hood are new choices of either a 4.0L DOHC V6 whose fuel efficiency rating is 17 mpg city and 26 mpg highway or a 4.6L OHV V8 that produces 300 horsepower in the GT trim. Buyers can also choose from either a 5-speed automatic or manual transmission. Unfortunately, while the V8 version's quick acceleration compensates for the poor fuel economy, the V6 edition offers only 210 horsepower. Pony car purists will be happy with the stainless steel tipped dual exhaust and MacPherson strut front suspension that nicely improves the ride and handling. However, the solid-axle rear suspension might not be as adaptable to the road as some buyers would prefer.

A new addition that is getting a lot of attention is the interior ambient lighting whis is available in a number of colors which light the cupholders and the footwells. Also, the instrument cluster gets a similar treatment with over 125 color combinations to set the mood. Of course, the addition of high-intensity headlights offers clearer, brighter illumination in the dark.

The price of the 2009 Ford Mustang is hard to match at a base MSRP of $19,735, so buyers at almost any price point will be able to get their hands on a piece of American automobile history. With 240-lbs per foot of torque in just the V6 model, consumers will get the genuine pony car experience in this 2009 Ford Mustang.
