Ford Expedition

The Ford Expedition made its debut in 1997 as a large sports utility vehicle that can seat eight passengers. Upon its introduction the buyers had a range of V8 engines to choose from. The vehicle came in two versions, the XLT and the Eddie Bauer edition, which are available with 2 or 4 wheel drive. The vehicle can carry a load of 3600kg. In the years between 1997 and 2003, Ford changed the look and power of the Expedition with two of the V8 engines becoming more powerful without losing their mileage. The vehicle also got a new grille, and front and rear end bumpers.

In 2003, the second generation Expedition made its debut. The vehicle now shared its body with the Ford U. The vehicle suspension and axle were changed and given an independent status resulting in a much better feel. The vehicle received a third row of seats that can be folded and lights that give a clearer signal to traffic behind that the vehicle is turning. In 2005 the entry level 4.6L V8 engine was discontinued and the 5.4 Liter V8 was upgraded.

In 2007 the third generation Ford Expedition was unfurled in front of the public at the Houston Auto Show. This vehicle was built on the new T1 body and includes an independent rear suspension. The Expedition derives its power from a 5.4 Liter V8 engine, Ford also unveiled a longer version of the Expedition called the EL or extended length. The new version is 40 cm longer and has 24 ft more space where one can store luggage. The EL and the regular Expedition models are available in four styles, the XLT, Eddie Bauer, Limited and the King Ranch series. A special version of the Expedition has been created for police and fire departments, which are called Special Service vehicles. The XLT is equipped with 17 inch tires, headlights that switch on and off by themselves, air conditioning that can be controlled by the rear passengers as well, captain chairs for the driver and front passenger and a 6 CD music system. The Eddie Bauer edition is equipped with 18inch tires, leather throughout, one-touch folding third row seats, and a dashboard CD system. The controls of the music system are located on the steering wheel. The Limited and King ranch editions come with 18 inch tires, upgraded leather seats and power pedal adjustments.
