Unchanged from 2007, the 2008 GMC Savana is a full-size van which comes with three or four doors. The Savana Passenger comes in 8 models, varying by wheelbase, and can seat up to fifteen passengers. Equipped with either a 5.3 or 6.0 liter V8, the Savana comes with a standard 4-speed transmission.
Savana's three trims all have a similar exterior design: simple lines, lack of embellishments, and a prominent red GMC emblem on the horizontal-lined chrome grille.
The 2008 Savana's standard safety features range from daytime running lights to head-curtain side airbags. The Passenger and Conversion trims offer either a Vortec 5.3L or 6.0L V8 offering up to 323 horsepower. The Cargo trim can be fitted with a Vortec 4.3L V6, a Vortec 4.8L or 5.3L V8, or even a Duramax Diesel 6.6L V8 Turbo. While the towing capacity is lower in the Cargo trim, it has a massive 4,304-lb payload, around 1,000 pounds more than the Savana Passenger.
The Passenger and Cargo both lack luxurious upgrades, but the Savana Conversion is available with many added features. However, all of those added features will certainly boost the MSRP and could be installed after-market for a much lower price. Normally standard features (air conditioning, front airbags, etc.) are all considered customizations to the Conversion. One on hand, those customizations give a buyer free range to completely personalize the van. On the other hand, when typically standard features are considered additions, the price rises quickly.
The 2008 GMC Savana can be family friendly, but can also be perfect as a work van. Massive cargo space, seating capacity, and basically a blank canvas are available in three different trims. While the base MSRP for the Passenger is around $27,000, those little added features that new car buyers have come to expect can undoubtedly put the cost through the Savana's expansive roof.
