The new 2008 GMC Yukon is one of the largest, most powerful SUVs on the road. Though most SUVs on the market are available in either one or two trims, with five different trim levels, GMC gives buyers an incredible number of features to choose from. Not only that, GMC has jumped on the green train and developed a Yukon Hybrid. This hybrid gets a respectable 21 city MPG and 22 highway MPG. When compared to the standard Yukon's 14 city MPG and 19 highway MPG, GMC has accomplished an incredible feat for this massive SUV. Also, the different trim levels will seat either 8 or 9 passengers, so the entire family or team can fit comfortably for any trip.
The standard 2008 GMC Yukon is priced at around $36,245. For that price, buyers get a 4.8L Vortec V8 engine that produces up to 320 horsepower. While that seems like a huge number, the size of the Yukon demands that much to get it moving. Also available on the standard Yukon is a 5.3L Vortec V8 that produces around the same horsepower. The intro Yukon can tow 8,200-lb, so boaters can easily tow their vessel and latest catch. Dual-stage airbags, remote keyless entry, and a trial subscription to OnStar is included in the 2008 Yukon.
The highest trim, the GMC Yukon Hybrid, is an environmentally-friendly edition of the classic American SUV. The 2008 Hybrid features a 6.0L propulsion V8 engine that has active fuel management. Not only does the propulsion engine decrease gasoline usage, the active fuel management furthers fuel economy by shutting off cylinders that are not being used. The Hybrid creates around 332 horsepower, so power has been increased, rather than lowered. However, the towload is lowered to around 6,200-lb, a disappointment for many potential buyers.
Stylewise, the 2008 Yukon looks better than ever. Smooth curves and simple embellishments are what makes the Yukon so appealing. The Denali trim level adds many luxury touches to the already classy looking SUV. Large tinted windows and a wide stance give the Yukon the appearance of being tough, but elegant. Large square headlamps and a simple horizontal grille further the unassuming facade of the Yukon.
Overall, the 2008 GMC Yukon appeases both environmental activists and everyday consumers. Paying less at the pump is always welcome in this day and age. With a moderate asking price, the Yukon should be reasonably affordable for larger families. Potential buyers will be overwhelmed by the sheer number of available options and upgrades. However, they'll surely be thrilled that this SUV is really customizable to their specific needs.
