2010 Honda Fit Review

2010 Honda Fit Review

Following last year's complete redesign, the 2010 Honda Fit continues to show off its impressive amounts of practicality and versatility. It also likes to brag about the 5-star frontal crash test ratings that it received from the NHTSA. Two trims are available: the Base and the Sport. Both are front wheel driven and require a 17.2-foot turning radius. The Fit features a second row Magic Seat that has the dual ability to either fold flat or flip up to accommodate tall items behind the front seats.

A 4-door hatchback, the subcompact 2010 Fit from Honda is attacking the scene to compete with the Hyundai Accent, Nissan Versa, Toyota Yaris and the Chevrolet Aveo. It retails for between $14,900 and $16,410. EPA estimations for fuel efficiency are rated at 27 mpg in the cities and 33 on the highways. Of course that's due to its incredibly efficient base 1.5L 117hp 106 ft-lb i-VTEC inline 4 cylinder engine. Equally Honda-impressive is the standard 5-speed manual or optional 5-speed automatic gearbox. Standard steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters are included on Sport trim models with automatic transmissions.

Standard safety features for the Honda Fit 2010 include front, side and side-curtain airbags; 4-wheel ABS braking, keyless entry, electronic brake force distribution and tire pressure monitoring to name a few. Sport trims include extra amenities such as alloy wheels, leather steering wheels, fog lights, cruise control and a specialized security system. Additionally, an impressive navigation system and electronic stability control system are optional features for Sport trims.

Vehicular dimensions for the 2010 Honda Fit are 161.6 x 66.7 x 60.0 in. (l x w x h). It features a 98.4 inch wheelbase and 2489 pound curb weight. Interior spaciousness limits include 40 inches of frontal headroom (39 rear), 53 inches of frontal shoulder room (52 rear), 52 inches of frontal hip room (51 rear) and 41.3 inches of frontal legroom with 34.5 inches in the rear. The standard luggage capacity of 20.6 cubic feet can be expanded to 57.3 cubic feet by folding down the Magic Seat. And a small 10.6 gallon fuel tank will still allow you to travel up to 350 miles between fill ups. Practical, versatile and extra efficient, the Honda Fit is here to stay.
