2010 Honda Odyssey Review

The 2010 Honda Odyssey competes with the Ford Transit Connect, the Dodge Grand Caravan, the Volkswagen Routan and the Toyota Sienna. Available in 4 separate trims (LX, EX, EX-L and Touring), it is a classy minivan that delivers on Honda's esteemed reputation for convenience, refined finish standards and optimal comfort blended with versatile practicality. All trims feature a 3.5L SOHC VTEC V6 engine and a 5-speed automatic electronic transmission that have the power to make you forget that you are driving a family-friendly vehicle.

The highly innovative Variable Cylinder Management System (VCM) on the Honda Odyssey for 2010 permits the six cylinder engine to switch back and forth between 3, 4 and 6 cylinder operation modes to maximize fuel economy. It has a CARB classification as an ultra light emission vehicle (ULEV-II) and operates on a regular unleaded gasoline. Manufacturers suggested pricing ranges from $26,805 up to $40,755.

On the inside, the 2010 Odyssey features the popular Magic Seat 3rd row configuration. It does more than fold down flat; it actually retracts below the floor level and helps to maximize available cargo space to a whopping 147.4 cubic feet. Other interior measurements include 41 inches of frontal headroom (40 in rear), 64 inches of shoulder room (63 in rear), 57 inches of hip room (64 in rear) and 40.8 inches of front leg room (40 in rear). Needless to say, there's plenty of room for each occupant to be comfortable in his or her own space.

Step outside of the Honda Odyssey to witness exterior measurements of 202.1 inches x 77.1 inches x 68.8 inches in length, width and height respectively. Clearing the ground by just 4.3 inches, little ones have an easy time entering and exiting. Its 4387 pounds of curb weight are carried on top of its 118.1 inch wheelbase. Rated five stars from the NHTSA for both side and frontal collision tests, standard safety features include side curtain airbags, 4-wheel ABS braking, electronic stability and traction control, tire pressure monitoring and loads more. Concerning comfort features, your options are basically unlimited.

A very impressive array of tech features including Bluetooth HandsFreeLink (optional voice activated NAV models only), genuine wood and leather trim, 2-zone automatic climate control, XM Radio, mp3/auxiliary input jacks and a variety of upscale entertainment systems are available on the new Honda Odyssey. Specifically notable is the new Honda DVD Rear Entertainment System which features a 9 inch display screen and allows rear passengers to watch movies and even plug in video game consoles.

The 2010 Honda Odyssey can also tow up to 3500 pounds behind it and features a payload capacity of 1349 pounds on base models. All trims are front wheel driven and require an 18.3 foot turning radius. All trims also feature a 21 gallon fuel tank with EPA estimations for fuel efficiency ranging from 16/23 mpg up to 17/25 mpg. Anyway you look at it, the Odyssey is well worth your consideration when it comes to practical, dependable and quite luxurious family-based transportation.
