This summer, the 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe will be presented to North American audiences for the first time. This is a new chapter for Hyundai as the Genesis will be the first rear-wheel driven, V8 auto they have ever released. And for a Hyundai especially, this new Genesis is very appealing to view. It's sporty as heck, sleek, ready-looking - and will definitely get you noticed everywhere you find yourself.
To get an idea of just how sporty this new Hyundai is, take a look at some of its targeted competition. The Genesis Coupe for 2010 is going directly after the Infiniti G37, Ford Mustang GT, Mitsubishi Eclipse GT, BMW 335i Coupe and the Mazda RX-8 to name a few. Now, you don't just attack heavy hitters like those without a lot of intelligent planning and effort.
The 2010 Genesis is an ape of a car, but a beautiful ape. It has a 111-inch wheelbase and an overall length of 182.3 inches. Its width is 73.4 inches and its height is 54.3 inches. That makes it just slightly shorter, a bit wider and somewhat more squatted than the Infiniti G37. The curb weight measures 3550 pounds making it a full 65 pounds lighter then the G37 as well.
The 2010 Genesis by Hyundai has the ability to perform as well. It features a 3.8L 310hp 263 lb-ft 24-valve V6 that definitely causes people to hold their children tightly as you pass by. These figures are slightly lower than the G37, but the Genesis has a definitive torque/rpm advantage. In fact, the Hyundai Genesis is ahead of all of its competition on the torque/rpm list. Hyundai also states that the Genesis can run on either premium or regular fuel and lose no more than 4 horses in the switch.
Exterior design standards are explicit and bold - further challenging all competitors to come out and play. The rear side window features a notched-out belt line that catches the eye in athletic fashion. Additionally, the entire vehicle is very present with its Z-shaped character lines. Dihedral headlamps add a distinctive flare to the design as do the accentuated hoof strakes and rounded-out front bumper.
The 2010 Hyundai Genesis is nothing if it isn't a slap in the face to all of its self-named competitors. It emerges onto the scene in fearless fashion to take and give blows until it either prevails or falters. It's a risk for Hyundai - and one that no other automakers have the stones to take. That leads one to assume that Hyundai is either completely crazy - or maybe they know exactly what they are doing. It's definitely a match to be anticipated: Hyundai verses every top automaker in a test of innovation, performance, style and audacity.
