The 2007 Infiniti QX56 is available in a 2WD ($49,950) and 4WD ($53,050). Both have a 320 horsepower, 5.6 liter V8 delivering 393 pound-feet. of torque. The transmission is an automatic with five speeds and an algorithm that adapts itself to the style with which the vehicle is routinely driven. Both models get 13 mpg city and 18 highway.
The 2WD model features a system for use of a mobile phone via a Bluetooth connection and interior climate is automatically monitored over two zones. There is a trademarked system for navigation and a premium audio unit from Bose. The 4WD includes all these features and includes undercarriage skid plates and a package for use of the vehicle for towing.
There is a unit for universal control of garage doors and even for home-based security systems. A console overhead includes bins for storage and passengers in both the second and third rows can access the vents as well as a total of six reading lights that are adjustable. Throughout the vehicle four power outlets are provided (12-volt) and a dozen cupholders are present.
The 2007 Infiniti QX56 can handle more cargo than comparable sport utility vehicles in the same class and carries an impressive capacity for towing as much as 9,000 lbs for the 2WD and 8,900 for 4WD. Because the QX56 has a chassis that is truck-based, gear ratios that are lower, and a suspension that auto-levels, it emerges with an unusual and welcome degree of power and flexiblity.
