2009 Jaguar XF Review

Scheduled for delivery March of 2008, the 2009 Jaguar XF is a luxury 4-door sports sedan that will replace the Jaguar S-Type. Jaguar predicts that the introduction of the XF will be a crowning achievement in automobile engineering. Consistent with its legacy of building high performance luxury cars that are beautiful as well as robust, the Jaguar XF is intended to be viewed as an alternative to the BMW 5-Series

With three models to choose from, Luxury, Premium Luxury, and Supercharged, the XF will be available with a choice of engines including a supercharged 4.2L V-8 which produces 420hp and goes from 0-60mph in 5.1 seconds. A 6-speed automatic transmission employs either steering wheel mounted paddles or a novel device called the JaguarDrive Selector which is devised to seamlessly change gears. In collaboration with Apple Computers, the JaguarDrive Selector is a round metal knob which is positioned to rise from its flush position into the driver's palm when he presses the start button. A twist of the knob activates the transmission and shift-by-wire assures the smoothest of gear transitions.

The fact that the Jaguar XF can comfortably seat 5 passengers is a testimony to its roominess and its position as a midsize luxury sedan. There are numerous features in the cockpit that are either controlled by touch sensors or proximity sensors, such as the glove box and interior lights. Expect top quality audio systems which include mp3 capability and 8-speaker sound. Voice activation for the navigation system and telephone are available on every model. It is the intention of Jaguar, with the XF's new surface language and innovative technology, to not only replace the S-Type, but to establish a new era for itself as an automaker.

Driving the new 2009 Jaguar XF is an enjoyable experience due to its structural rigidity and relative light weight achieved by using modern materials like weight-saving aluminum and space shuttle-inspired geometry. Whether purchased for its luxury saloon-inspired amenities or its sports car underpinnings, the XF rewards the driver with breathtaking gratification.
