2010 Jeep Compass Review

2010 Jeep Compass Review

In an effort to expand the company's customer base, the 2010 Jeep Compass again attacks the US market for compact SUVs. Although it is a basic carryover from 2009, you can benefit from its very impressive list of both standard and optional features for safety, entertainment, technology and comfort. Jeep designed the Compass to provide all occupants with a "car-like" feel while simultaneously providing them with the company's guarantee for capable, tough vehicles. Loads of attention has been given to making the Compass a family-friendly, efficient and fun transportation choice.

The Jeep Compass for 2010 shares a platform with ts cousin, the Jeep Patriot. It is available with either a front-wheel or full-time 4WD drivetrain configuration. There are 2 trim levels available as well: Sport and Limited. Both trims feature a 2.4L 172hp (@ 6000 RPM) 165 lb-ft (@ 4400 RPM) inline 4-cylinder engine that's mated to 5-speed manual transmission. A continuously variable gearbox is also available for both trims. Additionally, you may select the available 2.0L 158hp/CVT powertrain combo (available for FWD Sport models only).

The Jeep Compass 2010 is able to tow up to 1000 pounds behind it and features a 925 payload capacity. Jeep recommends retail pricing between $18,720 and $25,135. A very impressive list of standard and optional features for technology, auto safety, luxury and fun are included. Here's just a few:

  • 4-wheel antilock braking;
  • Electronic brake assist;
  • Electronic stability control with anti-roll litigation capabilities;
  • Electronic traction control;
  • RALLYE 18-inch wheels;
  • Uconnect wireless connections:
  • 30-gig multimedia infotainment system;
  • and loads more...

Competition of the 2010 Compass by Jeep including the Nissan Rogue and Volkswagen Tiguan have a difficult time matching Jeep's recipe for overall customer satisfaction. The Compass also delivers a very respectable 23/28 MPG city/highway. Its 13.6-gallon fuel tank will allow you to cruise in style up to 350 miles before getting thirsty. The Compass earned 4 out of 5 possible stars on frontal crash tests from the NHTSA.

The 2010 Jeep Compass stretches tape measures to 173.9 inches in width, 69.3 in width and 64.2 in height on the exterior. You'll need to step up 8.1 inches to enter the well-appointed cabin. It also features a safe and sturdy 3100-pound curb weight that all occupants appreciate in adverse driving conditions. Interior spaciousness is very adequate in both the front and rear seats for all 5 passengers. You'll also find 22.7 cubic feet of cargo capacity in the rear. The Compass delivers a new type of family-friendly, car-like driving pleasure. Test drive one soon.
