2009 Kia Borrego Review
The 2009 Kia Borrego is an SUV that is similar in size to the Toyota 4Runner, the Chevrolet TrailBlazer, the Nissan Pathfinder, and the Ford Explorer. With its four-wheel independent suspension, the Borrego is a good choice for off-road as well as on-road driving.
The Borrego's exterior design features trapezoid-shaped headlamps, a chrome grille, and flared wheel wells. The wheel base measures in at 114 inches, with a length of 192.1 inches. With a width of 75.4 inches, this vehicle is stylish and sturdy.
This model provides seating for seven passengers over three rows of seats. Both the second and third rows of seats can be folded to make a larger space for cargo. The seat in the second row slides, which means that it's easy for your passengers to access seats in the rear of the vehicle.
Vehicle buyers have two engines to choose from: a 3.8L V6 or a 4.6 L V8. The V6 engine gives the vehicle 276 hp, which should be powerful enough for most consumers. Going with the V8 engine means you will be getting 337 hp with either a rear or front-wheel drive. This gives the driver the ability to increase speed in a hurry when necessary to pass another vehicle.
A six-speed automatic transmission is used with the V8 engine. The V6 engine has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs and the V8 engine gives vehicle owners the ability to pull 7,500 lbs. Airbags (side curtain) are available for all three rows. In addition, the Borrego offers electronic stability control and ABS. Hill Assist Control and Downward Assist Control are also available.
The LX trim package includes heated seats, an AM/FM radio and a CD/MP3 player that includes Sirius Satellite radio. Manual air conditioning is also included with this package. The EX, the premium trim package, gives drivers a leather interior, as well as power tilt steering wheel adjustment. Another advantage to choosing the EX package is the dual zone climate control feature.
The Kia Borrego will get approximately 17 mpg in the city and 21 mpg for highway driving. This vehicle is available at an MSRP of $30,995 for the LX trim package. For that price, you are getting a vehicle with a lot of power under the hood wrapped up in an attractive package. Like the Bighorn sheep for which it is named, the Borrego is one tough customer.
