2008 Land Rover LR3 Review

The European manufactured 2008 Land Rover LR3 was specifically crafted to cater to the American marketplace and offers transportation for up to 7 passengers in a luxuriously designed SUV. It's versatile and rugged construction offers luxurious features and an appealing design, a prestigious nameplate and an advanced suspension system that accommodates off road excursions just as well as it handles a long ride along the highway.

The first of two trim levels is the SE which is equipped with 18 inch wheels, rear parking sensors, fold flat second and third row seats, dual zone automatic climate control, a tilt steering wheel, leather seats, a power sunroof, a fixed rear sunroof and a nine-speaker stereo with in-dash CD changer and auxiliary jack. Other options for the SE include front parking sensors, advanced bi-xenon headlights, Bluetooth technology, a navigation system that has mapping ability for both on and off road excursions, satellite radio and a handy cooler box that is located within the center console. A Cold Climate Options Package is also available and offers heated front and rear seats, a heated windshield and heated windshield washer application system. The Heavy Duty Options Package available for both models provides a full size spare tire and a locking rear differential. The top of the line HSE trim includes most of the features available on the SE and either adds or upgrades with 19-inch wheels, a Harman Kardon Logic 7 sound system with 14 speakers and a power tilt steering wheel. A Luxury Options Package is available for the HSE that includes adaptive headlights, upgraded leather upholstery and all the features found in the Cold Climate Options package.

Both models are powered by a 4.4-liter V8 that is capable of 300 horsepower. The driver controls sending the power through a six-speed automatic transmission to an advanced 4 wheel drive system by simply changing the rotary dial to 1 of 5 settings - general, snow/grass/gravel, mud and ruts, sand, and rock craw- that will optimize handling and power to accommodate the current driving conditions. The LR3 also features an independent suspension that enables it to utilize electronically controlled air springs that automatically adapt to just about any terrain. When properly equipped, this SUV s very capable of towing a very hefty 7,700 pounds.

Combining a rugged exterior, powerful engine, crisp handling, true off road capabilities and a full array of luxury features, the 2008 Land Rover LR3 has created a uniquely designed mid size SUV. Crisp handling and its easy to maneuver size help this Land Rover really shine for every day use or more adventurous treks.
