The 2008 Lexus GS is a large, performance based luxury sedan that is available in several trims. Last redesigned in 2006, the 2008 models received only minor cosmetic upgrades and a brand new powerful V8 engine was added to the high end models.
The lineup begins with the GS350 which is equipped with a 3.5 liter V6 that delivers a very impressive 303 horsepower and is mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. The GS350 is available in all wheel drive or rear wheel drive. The GS460 is a new model that is available in rear wheel drive only and comes standard a 4.6 liter V8 that produces 342 horsepower and an 8 speed automatic transmission. The GS450h represents the hybrid version and its combined gas engine and electric motor delivers 339 horsepower. All models include an abundance of features including leather upholstery and a keyless entry and engine start. Most functions are controlled through a dashboard touch screen computer system that displays a navigation system as well as the rear view camera that assists in parking and backing up the vehicle. Other optional features include a power sunroof, ventilated seats and Lexus' Pre-Collision System-which is designed to automatically secure passenger seatbelts and apply the brakes if an unavoidable crash is detected by its sensors. Safety features include curtain side airbags, front side airbags, front knee airbags, anti lock brakes and an antiskid/traction control system.
All 2008 Lexus GS models feature renowned Lexus luxury and distinctive styling for up to 5 passengers for about $50,000. With its wealth of safety, luxury and convenience features and exceptional handling and road manners, the GS and its powerful engines have successfully raised the bar and bridged the gap between sport performance and luxury sedan.
