The 2008 Lexus LS lineup proudly exhibits its flagship status, offering an unmatched combination of luxury, performance, space and refinement not found in lowered priced vehicles. This beautifully crafted luxury was the recipient of a complete redesign for the 2007 model year and the elegant 2008 Lexus LS sedan lineup returns with no significant changes.
The 2008 Lexus LS comes in two versions: the standard 460 and the extended wheelbase 460 L. Standard features on the LS 460 include 18-inch alloy wheels, adaptive xenon headlights, a sunroof, leather seating, wood trim, dual-zone automatic climate control, power and heated front seats, keyless ignition, Bluetooth connectivity and an audio system with a six-CD changer and an auxiliary audio jack. The 460 L edition also offers 19 inch wheels, an adaptive air suspension package and the Executive Class Seating Package. The seating package reduces rear seat capacity to two, but features heated and cooled power adjustable rear seats with massage, a fixed console with cooled storage, full dual zone rear climate control and an outstanding DVD entertainment system. Options are bundled into packages and provide such features as a navigation system with real time traffic, a parking guidance system that enables the car to parallel park itself without any driver input, and a 19 speaker Mark Levinson surround sound audio system.
The rear wheel drive LS 460 receives power capably and quietly from a 4.6 liter V8 engine that produces 380 horsepower paired with an 8 speed automatic transmission with manual shift override. Its ability to go from 0 to 60 in under 6 seconds is representative of average performance for its class. If you're looking for a world-class luxury sedan that bristles with technology and delivers a smooth, quiet, comfortable, safe and reliable ride, the 2008 Lexus LS 460 should be on your must-drive list. If you have a chauffeur or just want to further pamper your rear-seat passengers, you'll be better served by the even-more spacious and opulently-appointed LS 460 L.
The base price of the 2008 Lexus LS is lower than the comparable Mercedes-Benz S Class and the Audi A8, and it is also less sporty and more comfort oriented than its German rivals. However, the LS Class is outstanding in its own right in terms of power, refinement, standard features and optional gadgets.
