The 2008 Lexus SC 430 is a classy, pleasant to drive and semi-sporting retractable hard top convertible that is geared more towards luxury than high performance. Its refined powertrain and suspension delivers more of a quiet and comfortable ride than other sport oriented cars that focus more on speed and agility. But the SC 430 is no slouch on the pavement either, with power provided to the rear wheels by a 288 horsepower 4.3 liter V8 paired with a 6 speed automatic transmission that enables it to go from 0 to 60 in just over 5 seconds. The dramatically designed SC 430 is unchanged for the 2008 model year, but still just as visually stunning with curvaceous lines and bold front and rear fascias featuring a large trapezoid grille and adaptive lighting headlight clusters. The SC 430's cockpit style interior is lavish and features heavily bolstered and highly adjustable sport seats with soft touch leather upholstery. Glossy real wood trim shines throughout the cabin, with wooden door panels used to conceal the standard premium quality audio and navigation systems when not in use. A padded leather covered console provides a comfortable arm rest and handy storage bin. Like most convertibles, interior and trunk space is limited. Although classified as a 4 passenger vehicle, the miniscule straight-back rear seats are hardly large enough for 2 small children, and definitely not suitable for adults. Typical for convertibles, the trunk is also very small at just 8.8 cubic feet- and with the top down it becomes pretty much non existent, making the rear seats pretty handy if you plan to tote along a few personal belongings. The standard equipment list is graciously long and highlighted by distinctive 5 spoke, 18 inch aluminum alloy wheels; dual chrome exhaust tips, keyless entry, full power accessories, automatic climate control and an amazing sounding 9 speaker Mark Levinson audio system with in dash CD changer. The 2008 Lexus SC is an extremely attractive hard top coupe that offers smooth, open air cruising at the touch of a button. Although neither practical nor truly high performance, if you like to be completely surrounded in luxury as you cruise by drooling onlookers, the Lexus SC 430 is very enjoyable to drive and beautiful to look at.
