2009 Lexus LS Review

The 2009 Lexus LS lineup features five trim levels: the 460 4-door Sedan, the AWD 460 4-door sedan, the 460 L 4-door Sedan, the AWD 460 L 4-door Sedan and the AWD 600h 4-door Sedan Hybrid. MSRPs for the LS Series sedans range from $63,675 for the stock 460 up to $105,885 for the LS 600h. Lexus enthusiasts worldwide are excited by the fact that the all-wheel drive option has been made available across the line. The difference between the LS 460 and the LS 460 L/600h is about 5 inches in wheelbase and overall length measurements.

Every 460 model comes stock with a powerful 4.6L 380hp V8 engine with an amazing 8-speed automatic transmission. The AWD models have slightly less horsepower: 357. The Lexus LS 600h combines an intimidating 5.0L gasoline-powered V8 with an effective electric motor to produce 438 total horsepower. The hybrid also employs the efficiency of a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) to optimize drivetrain performance.

Of course, Lexus provides purchasers with a maximized list of standard safety features including 4-wheel ABS braking, electronic stability and traction control, an antiskiding system, frontal knee airbags, frontal side airbags, side curtain airbags, rear side airbags, keyless entry, keyless starting, steering-linked headlamps and tire pressure monitoring systems just to name a few. And of course, the NHTSA has again awarded the Lexus LS Series its top recommendation as a family-safe vehicle.

The Lexus LS Series for 2009 also continues to set planet-wide standards for material quality and superior craftsmanship. All other automobile models, including the Hyundai Azera would love to enjoy the Lexus reputation for workmanship mastery. If you like it luxurious, Lexus is the company to allow to pamper you. Leather seats that are both heated and cooled are yours for the opting. Power rear seats and a 4-zone climate control system that actually reacts to each passenger's body heat are a couple of the other optional features that set the Lexus LS Series completely apart from the rest of the automotive world. Need more? How about retractable tables, heated steering wheels, reclining rear seats, DVD entertainment and even seating that massages you weary bones and muscles.

The Lexus navigational system offers a large readout screen that doesn't make you squint to view it. Other convenient and safe features include the rearview camera and the hands-free communications system. The Lexus Pre-Collision Safety System takes over when an impact is imminent and automatically tightens seat belts, readies full braking power and also acts to gradually apply the brakes. There is also an Advanced Parking Guidance System that enables you to parallel park in the tightest of spots with effective ease - hands free.

Competition for the 2009 Lexus LS Series comes from heavy hitters like the Audi A8,the Mercedes-Benz S Class, the BMW 7-Series, Lincoln MKs, the Hyundai Genesis and the Cadillac DTS - several of which have six-figure price tags. Lexus continues to forge its almost-too-impressive legacy as the auto manufacturer to aim to beat. Unparalleled style, the highest-quality materials, unequalled design innovation, unending performance and a reputation for true excellence make the Lexus LS Series very difficult to outshine.
