2010 Lexus RX 450h Review

2010 Lexus RX 450h Review

There are two trim options available for the 2010 Lexus RX 450h: a front-wheel-drive version and all-wheel-drive version. MSRPs for each are $41,660 and $43,250 respectively. Although some people believe that those price tags are too lofty, either trim level will deliver excellent fuel efficiency, loads of bells and whistles, readily bursting power and the zero tolerance build standards that Lexus has come to be known for. Luxurious, smooth, comfortable and intelligent, the RX 450h is quite an amazing advancement in modern automotive technology.

If there's anything negative to say about the 2010 RX 450h, it would be that there is no third-row of seating offered. Also, packages for optional features are rather pricey. Otherwise, the very well selling RX luxury SUV crossover has been hybridized and demonstrates profound levels of evolutionary design standards. For 2010, the 450 hybrid has been made more powerful by 27 horses while simultaneously bumping up the number of miles per gallon of fuel delivered. In addition, all RX models, hybrid and otherwise, have been made with a wider, more beefed-up stance, larger brakes, additional air bags totaling 10, remote keyless ignition and a newly designed, optional system for navigation.

Responsive handling and impressive levels of driving dynamics will certainly jump out at you as very noticeable improvements. Both the suspension and steering systems have undergone performance-enhancing revisions. The RX 450h retains its ability to be used in a gasoline only mode, a mode that functions solely on electricity and of course, a combination of both modes. It can save fuel by operating only on its battering power or it can burn some extra fuel by blasting off with equal or bettered power than all of its V8 competition in the class of luxury mid-sized SUVs.

A 3.5L 295hp V6 engine is complemented by two electric motors for front wheel drive models and three electric motors for the all-wheel-drive models. The engine works in conjunction with a continuously variable transmission to allow you to accelerate from zero to 60 miles per hour, in smooth, quiet style, in just 7.6 seconds. And, it will deliver a combined 28 miles per gallon between the cities and highways. If it is equipped properly, the 2010 RX 450h can also tow 3500 pounds behind it.

Genuine wood and real leather trim features grace the cabin to create an elegant interior for all to enjoy in conjunction with the intense standard sound system designed by Mark Levinson. The optional navigation system features a class-unique, "mouse like" controller to manipulate its very user-friendly interface. In addition, it can also be controlled by voice commands. With either method of control utilized, this system is quite intuitive and is generally perceived as superior when compared to the interfaces of its competitors.

Cargo space is quite substantial measuring 40 cubic feet. That can be expanded to 80 cubic feet if you fold down the 40/20/40 split seating configuration. Light acceleration can be handled with the electric motors alone. In fact, the 2010 Lexus RX 450h is capable of generating speeds up to 30 miles per hour using no gasoline whatsoever. Although it's not as environmentally friendly as the 50 mpg Toyota Prius, the Lexus RX 450h definitely treats the earth well - all while delivering loads of comfort, bold styling and luxurious elegance. Lexus definitely has another hit on its hands.
