Lexus LS 600h

The first generation Lexus LS 600h was introduced to the world markets in 2007. The LS 600h is a luxury car that is available in one version only. The hybrid vehicle is powered by a mix of two engines - an electric motor and a 5.0 Liter V8 engine that has 389 horsepower. The combined horsepower ratings of both engines are 438. The power from both the engines is coupled with a continuously variable transmission, which has a shift-control system that is auto manual and runs in three different styles depending on the road conditions - normal, power and snow. The Lexus LS 400h can achieve a speed of 60 miles per hour in 5.5 seconds. It gets 20 miles per gallon on city roads and 22 miles per gallon on highways.

The Lexus LS 400h is equipped with 19 inch tires and projector headlights made with LED with their own washers. Also included is a remote keyless entry, electric doors, camera that acts as a back up while the driver is parking the vehicle, leather seats and a leather instrument panel. The driver's seat can be adjusted in 16 different ways with the touch of a button. The passenger's seat can be adjusted in 12 different ways with the touch of a button, and the front seats can be both heated and cooled. There is a system that displays the tire pressure in each tire and Bluetooth connectivity. The LS 600h has a navigation system that is supported by a 30 GB hard drive, which is able to record letters from passengers or play MP3 songs. The stereo system manufactured by Mark Levinson includes 19 speakers and a CD/DVD player. It also has side airbags for those seated in the front, curtain airbags that run through the entire side of the vehicle and airbags to protect the knees of the passengers.

The 2010 Lexus LS 600h is the planet's first full V8 hybrid. It features a 5.0L 438 horsepower 4-cam V8 engine with all aluminum heads and block. Four valves for each cylinder and dual variable valve timing with intelligence electronic intake control help to propel this new luxurious, sporty hybrid from 0 to 60 miles per hour in only 5.5 seconds. 13.8-second quarter mile times and an electronically limited fastest track speed of 130 miles per hour have also been reported. The drivetrain is completed by an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT) that features 2-speed reduction and a special mode for driving in the snow.

The big power and fast speeds demonstrated by the 2010 LS 600h Lexus are accomplished while still maintaining international certification as a Super Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (SULEV-II).
