The award-winning Lexus LS offers more than just a pretty face. With a powerful V8 under the hood and excellent fuel economy for its class, this Lexus adds a little brawn to your beauty.
The first generation Lexus LS model arrived in 1989. The model derived its power from a 4.0 Liter V8 engine. The LS model was a rear wheel drive vehicle that was equipped with memory seats that could be adjusted with the touch of a button, and it was the first vehicle to be equipped with a telescopic steering wheel. The vehicle seated five passengers. The first major change to the LS was made in 1993. It got bigger brake rotors, the refrigerant system became CFC free and it was now available in more colors. It also received front passenger airbags. The second generation Lexus LS made its debut in 1995. Though the vehicle had the same shape as that of the previous generation, most of its internal parts had been changed. It was lengthened and this resulted in more space inside, especially for people seated in the back. The vehicle received a more powerful engine as well. It got a new dashboard, new temperature controls and additional storage. It also got a dashboard CD player, one of the first of its kind. In 1998, an updated LS model was introduced into the market. The new model was powered by a 1UZ-FE engine with 290 horsepower and a five speed automatic gear system. The vehicle got a new front end, better looking front and rear lights and new alloy tires. It was equipped with headrests in the back that were retractable, more wood finish and a GPS based navigation system with a hard drive.
The third generation Lexus LS made its debut in 2001. The car derived its power from a 4.3 Liter 3UZ-FE engine that had 290 horsepower. The dashboard got a bit more wood, the center console was equipped with a LCD touch screen and airbags are provided for the front and rear passengers. Optional on the vehicle was a stereo system manufactured by Mark Levinson, wipers that work once there is rain in the air and seats that could be both heated and cooled. The third generation Lexus LS was freshened up in 2004. It got a new look for the front and rear ends, headlights that move in the direction that the car is turning, a radar system that predicts head on accidents, and airbags to protect one knees.
The forth generation Lexus LS made its debut in 2007. It comes in two versions - a standard size and a lengthened size. Both versions derive their power from a 4.6 Liter 1UR-FSE V8 engine that produces 380 horsepower. This vehicle is the first vehicle to be equipped with an eight speed automatic gear system. It also includes a stereo system with surround sound manufactured by Mark Levinson, a system that helps the driver park the vehicle, a navigation system and a system to monitor tire pressure.
