Lexus RX 350

Lexus has long been known as one of the top producers of luxury vehicles. They made no exception when they released the Lexus RX350 in 2007. However, that was not the true beginning of the RX350. For that, you must go back to March 1998 when Lexus first introduced the RX300, the precursor to the RX350. As one of the first crossovers on the market, the Lexus RX300 was hailed as well-designed model at the North American International Auto Show in 1998. Reviewers were impressed with the RX300's luxurious features and elegant styling. In the first five years of the model, Lexus sold over 370,000 RX300s. Not only was that a huge profit for Lexus, it also showed buyers that Lexus was leading the crossover race in America.

In 2007, the RX300 was replaced by the RX350. Other changes were put in place as well. Lexus included an incredible DVD navigation system, shiny chrome door handles, an improved front grille, and 18-inch alloy wheels. Many are pointing out that the Lexus RX350 is ready for an overhaul. It has only seen minor changes since the beginning, and buyers become bored quickly. Lexus will have to give the RX350 a facelift soon, otherwise the attention will certainly go elsewhere. In 2009, a Pebble Beach edition of the RX350 will be unveiled, but the biggest addition is 4WD.

Critics are quick to point out that the Lexus RX350 gets poor gas mileage, and with only 18 city MPG and 23 highway MPG, buyers are starting to agree. Lexus saw a slight decrease in sales when other makers began releasing hybrid versions of their SUVs. Also, reviewers are claiming that the exterior is in need of a complete makeover. Since the model has only incurred minor changes, it seems that reviewers are becoming less and less kind toward the luxury model. According to an automotive blog, Lexus will soon be producing a 7-passenger version of the RX350 for the American public. However, some are saying that this will be too little too late and that the RX350's number is up. Also, in England, the RX350 features an amazing entertainment system that houses two widescreen monitors in the back of the driver and passenger seats. While this is certainly impressive, American buyers are wondering, "Where are ours?" Though, in 1999, Motor Trend named the Lexus RX350 the SUV of the Year, many are wondering if the crown still fits.
