There is no mistaking the positive force and magnitude of the 2008 Lincoln Navigator L as it drives by in all of its chromed out glory. Designed specifically for those who need a lot of cargo and passenger space and want to be surrounded by an abundance of luxury, the Navigator L is a full size luxury SUV that is differentiated from the rest of the Navigator lineup by its longer wheel base-more than18 feet of vehicle trails behind the huge chrome grille. Changes for the 2008 model include the absence of more than one trim and increased standard comfort and convenience features that include heated and cooled front seats, a superior THX sound system and a power folding third row seat. A rear view camera that turns on when the vehicle is put into reverse and will display the images directly behind the vehicle in the rear view mirror is now available as a much needed option for this massive SUV.
This full size luxury SUV comes in only one trim that is available with either rear wheel drive or 4 wheel drive. Standard features include 18 inch wheels, leather seats, a tilt/telescoping steering wheel, 14 speaker sound system with 6 CD changer, satellite radio and auxiliary jack and power everything-including 10 way front seats with heating cooling and memory, extended running boards, folding third row seat and rear lift gate. Also included for the comfort of rear seat passengers are rear seat climate control and a second row center console. More options are offered for the Navigator L and include 20 inch wheels, a sunroof, upgraded leather seats with complimentary trim and a tow package. There is also an Elite Options Package that combines a rearview camera, rear-seat DVD entertainment and a navigation system. Adding the Towing Package enables this massive SUV to pull up to 8,800 pounds in rear-wheel drive and 8,600 pounds when equipped with 4 wheel drive.
Providing room for up to eight passengers, the Navigator L also offers an additional 25 cubic feet of cargo space as compared to the rest of the Navigator line due to its 12 inch longer wheelbase. It shares the same powerful engine found in Ford trucks-a 5.4 liter V8 that delivers 300 horsepower. The standard 6 speed automatic transmission does a good job of distributing all that power, however, due to the overall dimensions and size of the vehicle, the L is not very energetic nor fuel efficient.
