2009 Lincoln MKX Review
The 2009 Lincoln MKX is a five-passenger luxury SUV that is both stylish and convenient. With a wealth of amenities, the MKX has a leg up on the Lexus RX350 and other members of the competition. Its safety additions are both practical and technologically advanced. However, some potential buyers could be disappointed with the lack of drivetrain options, and the price of the MKX is a bit higher than the comparables on the market as well. Nevertheless, this 2009 Lincoln is customizable with accessories, exterior colors, and techie gadgets.
Under the hood, the Lincoln MKX is fitted with a 265 horsepower 3.5L V6. Both the front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive trims come standard with this engine selection. Both also feature a six-speed automatic transmission with overdrive. Consumers might be put off by the MKX's lack of engine options, but the 17 city MPG and 24 highway MPG on the FWD trim more than make up for the disappointment. Also, with 250-lbs per foot of torque, the MKX is more powerful than many mid-size SUVs. Four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, AdvanceTrac with Roll Stability Control, and a tire pressure monitoring system are included as well. The tire pressure monitoring system features a digital readout in the instrument cluster that alerts drivers if a tire has too much or too little pressure.
Inside, the 2009 MKX is stocked with refined additions like wood and nickel accents, leather-wrapped steering wheel, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a remote keyless entry system with a driver's side keypad. The auto-dimming rearview mirror will automatically adjust as lights hit the glass so that drivers are not distracted by a glare, and the keypad makes fumbling for keys in the dark a thing of the past. Also included with the MKX are heated and cooled front seats and dual-zone electronic automatic temperature controls. The temperature controls allow the driver and front passenger to each determine their most comfortable temperatures independently. Features that can be added to the Lincoln MKX include a voice-activated navigation unit, heated rear seats, and a premium sound system with six-disc in-dash CD changer.
In general, the 2009 Lincoln MKX is well worth the money at $37,335. However, some might think that the navigation unit and premium audio system should be included for that amount of money. Solid safety features and an elegantly styled exterior make the 2009 MKX a perfect choice for individuals with small children that want to protect their precious cargo but not look like a mother's taxi service.
