"Big, Luxurious, Soft and Smooth". That's what Lincoln calls the 2009 Lincoln Navigator L. It is definitely roomy to say the least. And even though it has a 9000-pound towing capacity, it does ride smooth and feel soft - in any situation. The third row of seating is huge. This full-sized mammoth transports up to 8 passengers very comfortably, like the Cadillac Escalade, and still offers a football field of cargo space.
MSRPs for the 2009 Navigator L range from $51,130 up to $54,030. Fuel efficiency ratings are at 14/20 mpg city/highway and the Navigator has earned another 5-star safety rating from the NHTSA for 2009. The standard warranty covers the vehicle for 48 months or 50,000 miles, slightly outdoing its competition on average.
The Navigator L by Lincoln is super-quiet inside. It has fully-independent suspension making the ride extra smooth - even on the bumpiest of dirt roads. It's still a truck at heart though. It has a separated body bolted to a ladder-style frame. This makes the handling slightly less responsive than many crossover SUVs, but still well within the limits of acceptable fluid-cruising standards. And it didn't get that 5-star safety rating for nothing - it earned it by providing an excellent array of both standard and optional safety features. Let's just say, that if you have to be in an accident, the 2009 Navigator L is a great vehicle to be in.
Bauhaus-retro styling recreates the Lincoln glory days in the minds of purchasers. Genuine wood, stitched leather and various other high-quality materials comprise the interior. You won't find any plastic and faux-chrome here. Materials are soft to touch and gaps are all kept as tight as you might imagine that they could be.
Lincoln Navigator L for 2009 is BIG - 204.8 inches big lengthwise as a matter of fact. Width and height measure 78.8 and 78.3 inches respectively. Ground clearance sits at 9.8 inches, outshining even the Hummer H3T by 3/10 of an inch. The engine is equally large and powerful - a 5.4L 310hp V8 that is mated to a 6-speed automatic tranny. Together they crank out 365 lb-ft of torque at 3500 rpm. These monsters will still burn out at 75 going up a steep hill. Turning radius is 20.4 feet, so don't forget to anticipate getting out of where you get into.
With a gross vehicle weight of 7500 pounds, the Navigator leans considerably in corners and can be a bear to handle. You have to recognize what you are dealing with folks. In a time when huge vehicles are shunned for their lacking fuel efficiency, the 2009 Lincoln Navigator L is still a popular seller. That's because it is loaded with Lincoln luxury and after-the-sale service standards. It's big. It's luxurious. It's powerful and capable.
