Lincoln MKS

The Lincoln MKS was initially introduced to consumers at the 2006 North American International Auto Show as a concept model. The luxury full-size sedan was a modern twist on the classic Lincoln style. With a streamlined design and elegant accents, the MKS wowed audiences and critics. With seating for up to five passengers, the Lincoln MKS concept had a rare combination of refinement and avant garde styling.

Production began on the luxury sedan in the spring of 2008 at Ford's Chicago Assembly Plant. Recently, in June of 2008, the finished model was released to the public; however, only presales are taking place currently, with the actual delivery date scheduled for later in the year.

The MKS replaced the Lincoln Town Car, the maker's longstanding flagship luxury sedan. Built on Ford's D3 platform, the MKS offered interested buyers two engine choices, a 3.7L DOHC V6 and a twin turbocharged version of the same engine with Ecoboost. Ecoboost is an innovative Ford engine model that provides an impressive increase in horsepower. The 2010 MKS that is set to have this feature will possibly generate up to 340 horsepower, far surpassing the majority of other sedans on the American market.

Front-wheel drive is said to be standard, but buyers will have the option of upgrading to an all-wheel drive system as well. With innumerable features that can be added to the model like moisture-sensing windshield wipers, front and rear parking assist, and a premium sound system, reviewers are sure that the MKS will put Lincoln back on the map in the automotive industry. Not only that, with front park assist, the MKS will have a feature that almost no other American model has available.

Most recently, the Lincoln MKS was featured in an installment of the television show Motorweek. Early sales of the MKS are surprising even the most dedicated fans, exceeding sales of the already popular Cadillac CTS and high-end Infiniti M35. While Lincoln has confirmed that Ecoboost will be available on the model for the 2010 year, the maker has not substantiated any claims regarding the specific horsepower. Though most critics are staying on the conservative side with an estimate of 340, some are claiming horsepower in the upwards of 400. With all of the changes implemented into this Lincoln, it is no wonder that the maker decided to take a different route in marketing it as well. The MadCrazyLove commercial set the Lincoln MKS against the backdrop of a funny love story for three minutes, featuring shots of the sedan for a fifteen second spot and thirty second spot.
