2007 Mazda CX-9 Review

The seven-passenger 2007 Mazda CX-9 takes the concept of a cross-over vehicle to a new level with a pleasing mix of mechancial and stylistic detailing. The CX-9 is offered in three models in both FWD and AWD: the Sport ($29,035 / $30,235), the Touring ($31,135 / $32,335), and the Grand Touring ($32,675 / $33,875). All models are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 with an automatic transmission (six speeds.)

Systems are in place for the monitoring of traction, stability, tire pressure, and potential vehicle roll overs. Occupants are protected by double air bags in the front as well as by those that shield against an impact from the side and bags in the curtain position for all rows. Child seats are held in place by the LATCH method of anchoring. Beams in the doors further absorb the force of a collision with crumple zones to the front and rear. (The CX-9 also has a brake pedal that is crushable.)

The 2007 Mazda CX-9 has a combo audio unit playing across six speakers with an option to upgrade to a changer in the dash with a capacity of six discs and a total of ten speakers (Bose) with surround sound. Backseat passengers can enjoy the available DVD-based entertainment system that includes eleven speakers and there is also an option for a navigation system. When outfitted with a package of towing equipment, the Touring and Grand Touring models can handle towed loads of as much as 3,500 lbs.
