2010 Mazda Mazda5 Review
Best-in-class fuel economy is just one reason why the 2010 Mazda Mazda5 is such an intelligent choice. Officially classified as a subcompact crossover SUV, it's small in physical size, but huge in versatility. The Mazda5 features two rows of innovative fold-down seats to accommodate up to six passengers comfortably. It confidently competes with the Subaru Outback, Volvo V50 and the Volkswagen Passat with suggested retail pricing ranging from $18,510 up to $23,240. Be sure to figure in the costs of automobile insurance too!
The Mazda Mazda5 is minivan-esque and drives like a sporty sedan. It features sliding side doors and a very practical vertical liftgate. The sliding and reclining second row of bucket seating makes way for the comfortable third row, both protected by side curtain airbags. Other standard safety features include height-adjustable active head restraints for all occupants, 4-wheel antilock braking, electronic traction control, electronic stability control, an engine immobilizer, tire pressure monitoring and more. It all adds up to dual 5-Star frontal crash test safety ratings from the NHTSA. Nice.
The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the 2010 Mazda5 Mazda will deliver a class-leading 22/28 mpg urban/rural. It features a 2.3L DOHC 153-hp (@ 6500 RPM) 148 ft-lb inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine with VVT (variable valve timing), variable induction and dual balance shafts to create optimally smooth operational abilities and low-revving torque. All three trims: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring are front wheel-driven and are equipped with a 15.9-gallon fuel reservoir.
On the interior of the 2010 Mazda5, you'll be pleasantly surprised with amenities including:
- 3-spoke tilt/telescopic steering wheel with audio and cruising controls;
- Easy-to-read electroluminescent gauges;
- Automatic climate control with rear seat fan adjusters;
- 6-speaker premium audio system that supports CD, MP3 and USB formats;
- Voice-activated, turn-by-turn interactive navigation system with 7-inch touchscreen;
- 40.7 inches of legroom in front;
- And so much more!
On the outside is 181.5 inches and overall length, 69.0 inches in width and 64.2 inches in height. It travels on a 108.3-inch wheelbase and weighs in at 3422 pounds at the curb (Sport trim only).
The 2010 Mazda Mazda5 gets its Zoom on even more with Advanced Electro-Hydraulic Power Assist Steering. It adds just the right amount of assistance to make your driving experience seem effortless while still feeling extra-sturdy and responsive. The Mazda5 is one of those vehicles that you need to get close to in order to understand just how much it has to offer. Take a closer look today and enjoy your time in a new Mazda Mazda5!
