2010 Mazda Mazda6 Review

Concerning the 2010 Mazda Mazda6, 7 trims, 2 engines and 2 transmissions are available. The Touring Plus trim level joins the lineup new for this year as well as a new Technology Package on the Grand Touring trim. The Mazda6 is a sophisticated, large family sedan that has been designed specifically to compete with other top-selling Japanese sedans such as the Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima and the Suzuki Kazashi. And while the Mazda6 is a larger unit than the rest of its midsized competitors, it fits right in that group with suggested pricing ranging from $18,450 up to $28,390.

Exterior measurements of the 5-passenger 2010 Mazda6 from Mazda are 193.7 x 72.4 x 57.9 inches in length, width and height. With a wheelbase measuring 109.8 inches, it clears the ground by 5.1 inches. Its 3258 pound curb weight is balanced well and heavy enough to provide security and stability at high speeds - and on twisting, turning roads. There's plenty of room inside the nicely done cabin as well. Front passengers are treated to 39 inches of headroom, 55 inches of hip room, 57 inches of shoulder room and a very comfortable 42.5 inches of legroom. And while rear passengers downgrade to 38 inches of legroom and 37 inches of headroom, shoulder room remains the same and there's actually one additional inch of hip room presented. In the trunk, you'll find 16.6 cubic feet of luggage capacity good for hauling groceries, golf bags and more.

The base engine of the 2010 Mazda6 Mazda is a 2.5L 170hp (6000 RPM) 167 lb-ft (4000 RPM) I4. Optionally, you can choose the 3.7L 272hp (6250 RPM) 269 lb-ft (4250 RPM) V6 for loads of extra bursting power. And while the V6 option is fitted exclusively to a 6-speed automatic tranny, the 2.5L engine can be mated to either a standard 6-speed manual or an optional 5-speed automatic. All trims are front wheel driven and require 17.7 feet of radius for turning. EPA estimations for fuel economy are reported at 21/30 MPG urban/rural. With numbers like that, you can easily travel well over 400 miles with a full 18.5 gallon fuel tank.

Of course, the Mazda Mazda6 for 2010 has been designed with your family's safety in mind. The list of standard safety features includes 4-wheel ABS braking, electronic traction and electronic stability control systems, side curtain/side impact airbags and tire pressure monitoring just to name a few. On Grand Touring and Touring Plus trims, you will also find a standard system for blind spot monitoring. In addition, optional safety features include, but are not limited to:

  • OnStar Automatic Crash Response;
  • Single-button-push emergency assistance with GPS pinpointing;
  • Emergency Services Crisis Assist;
  • Remote Vehicle Unlock Assistance;
  • Ignition-blocking stolen vehicle assistance;
  • Stolen vehicle slowdown;
  • Turn-by-turn navigation;
  • Hands-free communications;
  • Vehicle diagnostics;
  • And loads more...

The 2010 Mazda Mazda6 is an excellent and intelligent choice for those in the market for a large, yet still midsize-classified family sedan that's comprehensively designed for safety and comfort. And remember that as 2010 rolls in, you can receive very appreciable financing options for 2009 models of the Mazda6. Enjoy a test ride today!
